Preventing Mold After Remediation

Group 5

Control Indoor Humidity

Keep indoor humidity between 30–50%. A hygrometer (available at most hardware stores) makes it easy to monitor, and a dehumidifier helps in basements, crawlspaces, and other damp-prone areas.

Group 5

Improve Ventilation

Run bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans during and after showers or cooking, and make sure they vent outside — not into the attic. Crack windows when weather allows to keep air moving.

Group 5

Fix Leaks Immediately

Small leaks under sinks, around windows, or in roofing become mold problems fast. Address plumbing and roof issues as soon as they're spotted, not when it's convenient.

Group 5

Manage Grading & Drainage

Make sure soil around your foundation slopes away from the house, and keep gutters and downspouts clear so water doesn't pool near your foundation or basement walls.

Group 5

Inspect Regularly

Check attics, basements, crawlspaces, and under-sink areas every few months for early signs of moisture — catching it early is far cheaper than remediation.

Group 5

Schedule Periodic Testing

For homes with a history of mold, annual air quality testing gives peace of mind and catches hidden problems before they spread.

Our Remediation Protocol

A structured process designed to safely remove mold and prevent spread
Engineering Controls

We review:

Negative Air
Pressure

HEPA-filtered air scrubbers create negative pressure to prevent cross-contamination.

Removal of Affected
Materials

Porous materials such as:

HEPA Vacuuming &
Cleaning

All surfaces are HEPA vacuumed and cleaned with antimicrobial solutions.

Structural Drying

If moisture remains, drying equipment is deployed.

Post-Remediation Verification

Optional independent testing confirms clearance.

Signs You Need Mold Remediation

Visible mold growth - Dark spots, fuzzy patches, or discoloration on walls, ceilings, or floors

Early Detection Saves Costs

Why DIY Remediation Fails

Improper mold removal often makes contamination worse
Professional remediation protects both property and indoor air quality.

Do I need to leave my home during mold remediation?

It depends on the size and location of the affected area. Small, contained jobs often allow you to stay, especially if the work is isolated to one room with proper containment. Larger jobs – or those involving HVAC systems, whole-home contamination, or extensive drywall removal – may require you to relocate temporarily for your safety and comfort. We’ll walk you through what to expect during your inspection.

Yes. We regularly work alongside insurance adjusters and can align our remediation scope with your claim’s documentation. We provide detailed photos, moisture readings, and written reports to support your claim, and we’re happy to communicate directly with your adjuster to keep the process moving. Learn more on our Insurance & Claims Assistance page.

“Mold removal” implies mold can be completely eliminated – but mold spores exist naturally almost everywhere, indoors and out. “Mold remediation” is the industry-accurate term: it means bringing mold levels back to a normal, safe range through containment, removal of affected materials, and correcting the moisture source that caused the growth in the first place.

The key is controlling moisture. Keep indoor humidity between 30–50%, run exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens, fix leaks promptly, and make sure water drains away from your foundation. See our full prevention guide above for more detail, or ask our team for a customized recommendation based on your home.
