What causes attic mold?

Attic mold is usually caused by poor ventilation and excess moisture. Warm, humid air from inside the home rises into the attic and gets trapped, especially if bathroom or kitchen vents are improperly routed. Over time, that moisture creates the perfect environment for mold growth.

Basements are naturally more prone to moisture due to their location below ground level. Water intrusion, high humidity, poor drainage, and limited airflow all contribute to mold growth. Even small leaks or condensation can lead to mold if not addressed quickly.
Certain types of black mold can produce toxins that may cause health issues, especially for people with allergies, asthma, or weakened immune systems. That said, any mold growth should be taken seriously and handled properly to prevent exposure and further spread.

It depends on the cause. If the mold is the result of a covered event like a sudden water leak or burst pipe, it may be included in your policy. Mold caused by long-term neglect or maintenance issues is typically not covered. We can help document everything for your claim.

Most projects take anywhere from 1 to 5 days, depending on the size of the affected area and severity of the problem. Larger or more complex jobs may take longer, especially if structural drying or repairs are needed.
